Hello and welcome! I’m Yumi, an illustrator living near Chicago.

My love for drawing began in the quiet countryside of Gifu, Japan, where I grew up surrounded by rice fields, forests, and animals. Every summer, my family went on weeks-long camping trips, and I loved sketching the places we visited for my school projects. In my twenties, I fell in love with oil painting, Renaissance art, and sceneries in Europe.

Now, I spend my weekdays at an office desk and my weekends drawing animals and nature scenes. When I need a break, you’ll probably find me walking through the woods near home or browsing in a local library.

I don’t have a lot to show just yet, but I’m slowly building my portfolio—so I hope you’ll stay tuned!
